About Us
Waterville Playshop
The Waterville Playshop was founded in 1951 for the purpose of providing quality family entertainment and education for the participation in live theatre. Waterville Playshop is a non-profit organization whose volunteer membership is open to any person, regardless of age, religion, sexual orientation, or race, interested in its objectives, which are to: * Provide quality, family oriented entertainment. * Provide for the nurturing and experiencing of all aspects of live theater, including performance (acting, singing, dancing), production (stage production/management, sound, lighting, set design), directing and musical accompaniment. * Provide the education of, appreciation for, and participation in live theater.

Call for Directors
Calling all potential directors! Now that THE MUSIC MAN is in rehearsal, we have some exciting news about our next season! If you are interested in directing for Playshop during the 2023-2024 season, please let us know. Our theatre is strongly considering the following shows, pending director selection: The Play That Goes Wrong (fall 2023) Seussical the Musical (spring 2024) Legally Blonde, Jr. (summer 2024) Still interested? If so, please send a letter of interest to shauna.newbold@gmail.com explaining why you would like to direct for Waterville Playshop, describing your experience in stage direction, and providing any additional information that you believe would be beneficial pertaining to the specific show(s) you wish to direct. You also are welcome to submit a current resume, although you are not required to do so. The deadline for the letter and resume submissions is Friday, March 3 at 11:59 pm. Please include your contact information (address, phone, email, etc). The board will review all applications and will schedule interviews with finalists mid-March. Selected directors will be notified by mid-April.
Volunteer Opportunities
Want to be a part of the board? If you really want to shape the next couple seasons, consider joining the board. The positions of Vice Chair, Publicity, and Season Selection are all available. Simply email a short letter of interest to Chair Shauna Newbold at shauna.newbold@gmail.com explaining which position you would like and why you would like to be a member of the board. Describe any experience you have with theater and provide any additional information that you believe the board should know. Resumes are optional. And remember being a board member is a 100% volunteer position.
Scholarships/Awards!
Scholarships - Know somebody deserving a scholarship? Waterville Playshop awards scholarships each year to recognize students or their families who have been active in Playshop for at least 2 years, who exhibit a supportive attitude toward community theatre, and who are a positive role model in the performing arts. In this season when we celebrate more than 70 years of existence, we want to acknowledge those who have helped make the milestones happen! The Spirit Award recognizes members who have performed outstanding service to Playshop, and the Lifetime Achievement Award does the same for those who have spent a career dedicated to the group. If you would like to nominate one or more people for these awards, email Chair Shauna Newbold at shauna.newbold@gmail.com explaining who your nominees are and why they should receive an award. Please include their name and contact information, your name and contact information, and whether the nominees know they are being submitted. The deadline for all of these submissions is Friday, March 31 at 11:59 pm. The board will review all information and will schedule interviews and follow-ups as needed during the month of April.
