Greetings, dear Waterville Playshop supporters!
Like everyone else, Playshop has been greatly affected by current public health crisis. Due to the stay-at-home orders surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, we are doing our part and ceasing current operations. However, while our theatre lights are temporarily shut off, they will shine brightly again soon! And we are extremely fortunate to announce that our two immediate upcoming productions are not cancelled, but merely postponed.
Our originally scheduled Matilda, the Musical at the end of April will now occur this fall. As our dedicated and passionate director, Shauna Newbold, shared with the cast when she announced the board’s decision to the already-assembled cast and crew, “We believe in the brilliance and talent of every cast, crew and production member and would like to continue this show at a later date. Therefore, the new show dates will be November 6-8, 2020.” And unless there are unforeseen and unavoidable conflicts, the current cast members will retain their roles so they can look forward to creating these characters in a few months from now. And what a cast it is! Check out the pictures below to see that cast.
Additionally, our production of Disney’s Frozen Jr. will not be seen this June; instead, we have “frozen” it until June 25-27, 2021 (a little stay-at-home pun for you). At that time, director Connie Matlow will be excited to revisit this fairy tale musical event with many an eager youth performer, we are sure! And if you are disappointed, don’t dismay. Just “let it go” (haha) for a little bit, and Frozen will return before you know it.
In the meantime, we thank you all for your past and continued support, and we look forward to making theatrical memories with you again very soon!
